JOB PURPOSE/ROLE
The Financial Accountant, reporting to the Finance Manager for special transactions, will oversee complex inward and outward reinsurance activities. Responsibilities include assisting in assessing new complex transactions, providing input and/or project management to ensure all key stakeholders are aligned and delivering timely and accurate financial reports to both internal and external stakeholders, supporting month-end procedures, preparing regulatory returns, and contributing to internal Allianz Group reporting.
The Financial Accountant is pro-actively driving processes and provides expert input to it. The Financial Accountant is a key point of contact for special transactions and supports colleagues in their development. The Financial Accountant understands the underlying business processes and can conceptionally define the required accounting, tax and reporting treatment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will include:
- Pro-active communication with external retrocessionaires and financial investors
- Understanding, investigating and delivering on requests from external stakeholders
- Manage work assignments independently from start to completion as well as being able to define and solve problems independently
- Prepare Statement of Accounts based on external requirements
- Analytical review of complex technical underwriting data
- Evaluating, summarising and presenting technical underwriting results to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborating in a global team and managing relationship with different internal and external stakeholders including Allianz Group, Allianz Re SE, cedents, vendors, banks, clients, local authorities etc.
- Identifying and driving process improvements to ensure efficiencies maintained within the team
- Drive self-knowledge of the business, systems, and outputs to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the accounting function
- Working under different accounting regimes: IFRS and Solvency II
- Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assist with training, coaching, and developing junior staff members.
- Supporting the year-end external audit by responding to auditors' requests for information and documentation, providing input to and reviewing the Company's Financial Statements;
- Supporting Solvency II regulatory reporting (input, review, testing of QRTs)
- Supporting and delivering on internal audit requests
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CMA qualified accountant/analyst
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Experience:
- Relevant working experience (2+ years post qualification) in the financial services sector - preference given to (re-)insurance firms and/or Big 4 audit firms
- Solid understanding of IFRS17/Solvency II and its practical implementation
- Highly motivated and strong "getting things done" delivery mentality used to working in a self-organized way
- Very strong solutioning capabilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage upwards
- Previous knowledge of SAP favoured
- Strong analytical skills and curiosity to expand own field of expertise
- Experience of coordinating and delivering accurate output with multiple deadlines
