Description

The Family Office Accountant is responsible for managing the financial records, reporting, and compliance needs of the family and its related entities. This role supports personal, investment, and operating activities, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely financial information across complex structures.

Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Maintain general ledgers for individuals, trusts, companies, partnerships, and investment vehicles
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Reconcile bank, brokerage, and loan accounts
• Track capital contributions, distributions, and inter-entity transactions
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules

Investment & Asset Accounting

• Record and reconcile investment transactions across public and private assets
• Track cost bases, realised/unrealised gains, and income
• Support performance reporting and cash flow forecasting
• Liaise with investment managers, custodians, and administrators

Tax & Compliance Support

• Prepare information for personal, trust, and corporate tax returns
• Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal counsel
• Assist with GST/VAT, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings where applicable
• Maintain supporting documentation for audits and reviews

Cash Management & Operations

• Monitor cash balances and liquidity needs
• Process payments, expense reimbursements, and payroll
• Support budgeting and expense tracking
• Maintain strong internal controls and approval processes

Administration & Confidentiality

• Maintain organized financial records and document management systems
• Handle sensitive financial and personal information with discretion
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) preferred
• 3-7+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a family office, private wealth, funds, or professional services environment
• Experience with multi-entity structures (trusts, companies, partnerships)
