An established professional services firm is seeking an Accountant or Senior Accountant to join its Business Advisory team in Canberra. This is an excellent opportunity for a public practice professional looking to broaden their exposure beyond traditional compliance work and contribute to strategic business advisory engagements.Working closely with experienced business leaders, you will partner with a diverse portfolio of clients, helping them navigate growth, improve performance and make informed commercial decisions.

Your new role
In this role, you will become a trusted advisor to a range of privately owned businesses, supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting, taxation and advisory services. You will work across a varied client base and gain exposure to projects that extend beyond year-end compliance.Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a portfolio of business clients across a range of industries
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements and income tax returns
• Delivering management reporting, budgeting and cash flow forecasting
• Identifying business improvement opportunities and providing commercial insights
• Supporting business restructuring, growth and strategic planning initiatives
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members
• Assisting senior leaders on advisory and capital-related projects

About You
To be successful, you will bring:

• 3+ years' experience within a public practice accounting environment
• CA qualified or actively working towards completion
• Strong technical accounting and taxation capability
• Experience managing client relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes
• The ability to communicate financial information to a non-financial audience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A proactive mindset and genuine interest in business advisory work
